      The controller needs to provide certain information to a data subject whose personal data have been collected. The article applies when the data regarding a data subject have been collected directly from the concerned person.

      Art. 13 is a crucial element for a controller to fulfil the principle of transparency stated in Art. 5(1)(a) GDPR and also meet the requirement for a controller to comply with the data subjects right to be informed.

      The information that a data subject has the right to take part in is defined in Art. 13 GDPR. For example, the data subject has the right to get information regarding the contact details to the controller, information regarding the processing of their data and information regarding there rights as data subjects.
